This month Fury would like to honor 34 year old Nicolette Hawthorne for her outstanding drive and PR’s by naming her Spotlight Athlete of the Month for April. Nicolette is an athlete who shows up to not only the Monday, Wednesday and Friday CrossFit class but also to Tuesday’s conditioning and Thursday’s endurance WOD. She has been a member since December of 2012 and always brings a smile to class. Recently she was able to earn a spot on the 2k meter row record board with a time of 8:02. Below are her responses to some of our questions we ask our Spotlight Athletes.
What brought you to CrossFit?
I had been at Lifetime for a while and became bored. I was looking for something different and a friend recommended CrossFit. I tried it and loved it and have been coming ever since. I love that every day is different and always a challenge.
What has impacted you the most during your time at Fury?
There are many things at Fury that have impacted me since starting here. The coaches are always there when I need help with something and push me to do my best. Moving from Basics to Prep and then to CrossFit, the coaches have all been great.
What would you like to share with potential and current members?
The people that I have met throughout these last few years have been such an encouraging group of people. They are always there to cheer each other on during a workout or attempting a new PR. I have developed great friendships while at Fury, which I am grateful for.
Congratulations Nicolette on all of your hard work and determination! We look forward to seeing you hit many more PRs and can’t wait to see your name on more record boards!
