alejandro pull upYou might recognize him as the kid who busted out 23 bar Muscle Ups just two weeks after moving up to CrossFit or the quite young kid who tackled Nancy RX’d, either way meet Alejandro Mancilla!  Alejandro is one of our youngest CrossFitters, he is only 18, but he is a force to be reckoned with.  He has only been coming to Fury for two months but he is already impressing us all.  Check out this month’s Spotlight Athlete!

When Did you start CrossFit? I started Basics June 1st and moved up to Crossfit mid July.

Why Did you start CrossFit? I wanted to try something harder and more functional than just working out at a gym.

What kept you coming back/motivated? I always push myself and want to be better than I did the day before.

How long did it take you to go from Basics to CrossFit Prep? I started doing both right away since I had some Crossfit experience already.

What is the best thing you have gotten out of doing CrossFit? Motivation from everyone around me and a drive to do better.

What is the one thing you have done here that you never thought you could do?   

Finish the Crossfit workouts, when I first started I didn’t think I would be able to lift the weights for a full workout and it looked harder than its was.

alejandroWhat is one goal you have reached? And one goal you still hope to reach? I’ve gotten my form down for overhead squats which I had lots of trouble with and I still hope to get stronger and be able to Rx all my workouts.

How has your diet changed since starting CrossFit? I’ve always had a decent diet but since starting Crossfit I try to stick to a paleo/zone diet.

How has the Paleo diet affected your workouts/life? I feel more energetic and I feel like I can push harder and keep my endurance up in the workouts after starting a paleo diet.

Additional Comments: Everyone at Crossfit Fury has helped me a lot with pushing me forward and helping out with my form and technique. I love Crossfit and hope to get better and stronger
