On April 30, after the last Open Sectional WOD we are going to continue the fun with a fundraiser for one of our own-4 year old Zane Treguboff.  Zane is the son of members Bryan (Fury’s official photo guy) and Jen Treguboff .  Zane was born with a rare brain malformation called Lissencephaly, which means “smooth brain.” It is caused by defective neuronal migration, a defect in the process in which nerve cells move from their place of origin to their permanent location. This rare condition affects every aspect of his life. Due to this diagnosis he suffers from severe epilepsy, psychomotor retardation, eating issues, poor eye sight, and hearing loss. Zane’s motor skills have been evaluated and they are at about a 3-5 month old level. He can’t roll over, sit, crawl, or walk. His arms and legs have also become stiff due to lack of motor function and his back is starting to curve.  Bryan and Jen would like to improve Zane’s quality of life through a special therapy called the Anat Baniel Method but sadly it is expensive and insurance does not cover it.

The Anat Baniel method focuses on helping the brain of the brain injured child do its job better and hopefully allow him to one day roll over or at least sit on his own, maybe reach and grab his favorite toy.   Zane is a sweet, loving child who deserves the best life possible and we hope our members and friends of Fury will help us make that happen.

So we are going to  “Flip for Zane” in hopes of raising money for Zane’s therapy.  We are going to meet at the corner of Thomas Rd and 144th  Ave (the soccer park at Thomas Rd) where 5 teams in true CrossFit fashion are going to flip large truck tires to the Community Park on Litchfield Rd.  Now the competition is two fold-first to see which team can raise the most money and two which team can get to the park first!  We would love for 5 people to volunteer to be a team captain and it will be your responsible to recruit team members and collect money. Each team goal is to raise at least $1000.  After the tire flip we will hang at the park, grill out and chill after 7 weeks of great competition.

This event will be a lot of fun for a well deserved little boy and his family.  Please be generous and support our cause-Flip for Zane.
