Interval Work

Both of the kids classes worked on interval running tonight.  The difference is that each our sprints ended with 10 burpees.  Sometimes the fastest sprinters ended up finishing the round last, until they learned to sustain their effort for a longer period.  The elementary kids worked ona 50m dash x4 rounds and the older kids completed 5x100m. ...

Tabata Fun

The advanced class got familiar with Tabata intervals tonight.  We started out by fatiguing them with 4 rounds of tabata sprints, then we moved on to 4 rounds each of pushups, squats and lateral hops over a 9-inch barrier.  For only 8 minutes of work, the kids were exhausted when they finished.  Those 10 seconds...

Getting Stronger

Sometimes getting stronger doesn’t mean lifting heavier weight for more reps, especially for kids.  Kids don’t need to fatigue a muscle in order to get stronger, instead they get stronger with higher reps and lighter loading.  That means lots of plyometrics, running and lightly loaded ressitance exercises (eg. wallball).  Today’s workout focused on this...
