Congratulations to our August Spotlight Athlete of the Month 42 year old Diego Espinoza! Diego has been a member with Fury for just over 3 years and has been pushing himself to his limit with each workout. He has been part of the Fury family not just as an athlete but also as the local business owner of Fuego Bar and Grill. The coaching staff has made Diego feel right at home. He credits them specifically for being able to make so many personal gains. Their expertise and willingness to offer advice even after class is over has given Diego more desire to push those limits. Below are some questions we asked Diego regarding his time with Fury.

What brought you to CrossFit?

I had been doing my own workouts in the back yard with different equipment like tractor tire flips, sledge hammers and chain drags. As time progressed, I knew it was time to advance my knowledge and CrossFit skills. After speaking to many CrossFit athletes throughout the valley, Fury was always the first to be mentioned. I tried it out for a month and immediately, I was HOOKED! I knew I had found my 2nd home!

What has impacted you the most during your time at Fury?

The first thing is the ability to push beyond my limits thus creating new ones and often, experiencing major break-through in WOD’s. And lifting is addicting. The coaching staff has been incredible! The level of expertise the coaches have and the willingness to help me identify opportunities in my technique has been a wonderful experience. Finally, which has been incredible, has been the relationships that I have established with coaches and athletes. Fury definitely creates a CrossFit “family” environment. It’s a wonderful feeling when experiencing a challenging WOD and no one is left alone, someone is always there to cheer you on and  help you push to the finish!

Any other comments you would like to share with current or potential members?

Fury is definitely a GREAT place to be a part of. The equipment is always clean and in great condition. In addition, there always seems to be new activities added such as yoga, jump rope or lifting classes including level 1 certification courses to help us improve as athletes.  Not to mention the many family activities Fury offers throughout the year to create a wonderful “family” environment in and outside of the gym. Finally, I’d like to thank those who selected me, it’s with great pride that I share with everyone that I belong to the Fury Family.

Great job Diego on all you have accomplished over the last three years. Congratulations on being named August Spotlight Athlete of the Month!
