CrossFit Fury is excited to announce it’s first ever Dance Camp this summer! On June 9th, Fury will host a week long Ballet Summer Intensive dance camp with Fury member, Melissa Hahne and her friend Robert Brown. If you remember Melissa taught Peter how to dance and they put on a pretty great show for us during the Christmas Party so if Melissa can teach Peter to dance, our kids should be a piece of cake!
Melissa Hahne has danced professionally freelancing as well as a member of Terpsicore Dance Company in Phoenix. Melissa also began a non-profit youth organization, which recently merged with TDC where she now serves as the youth director. Melissa has danced under the direction of Soili Arvola and Leo Ahonen (prime dancers), the late Fernando Bujones (American Ballet Theater), and many others. Melissa has performed in numerous roles in ballets such as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Tarzan, Raymonda, The Rhythm of Jazz, Forever 40s, Touche. Melissa enjoyed teaching at the Pennsylvania Dance Conservatory for three years and was certified in Pilates at the Kane School in Manhattan, NY.
Robert Brown is the Artistic Director of Abstract Dance Academy in Buckeye. Robert is a founding member of Urban Ballet Theater and trained at the Abrons Art Center at Henry Street Settlement with Daniel Catanach, and at the “Next Step” program at STEPS on Broadway.He danced professionally as a Guest Artist with Ballet Lubbock, Company of Dance Arts, Delaware Dance Company, Staten Island Ballet, New Orleans Dance Academy, and Dallas Dance Company. Robert’s intense passion for ballet shows in all of the classes he conducts. Robert was featured in the film production of “Center Stage” and “Gravity”, in addition to being featured in the role of Sir Joe in the “Carmen Project”.
Dance Camp Details
When: June 9-13: 9:00-12:30: Arrive 10 minutes early as we will start right at 9:00
Who: For Dancers of all levels, ages 7 and up.
Bring: Water bottle and sack lunch.
Attire: Ballet leotard with shorts or tights. Pink leather Ballet shoes, for advanced dancers, pointe shoes are required. Hair Pulled back in neat bun
Schedule: Arrive 10 minutes early.
9:00-10:00: Ballet Technique
10:00-10:45: Jazz/Hip Hop/Contemporary
10:45-11:15: Lunch (Sack Lunch)
11:15-12:30: Variations from Sleeping Beauty. On Friday a demonstration will be presented to parents from 12:00-12:30.
