This week’s Open wod (14.2) went down at Fury on Saturday and  in an unexpected twist, CrossFit HQ announced chest to bar pull ups much earlier than anticipated.  The workout which consisted of an increasing ladder of  overhead squats and chest to bar pull ups was quite daunting to many people however Fury rocked it with many members taking on weights and movements they had never done before.

Overhead Squats and chest to bar pull ups are extremely high skill movements and while many were nervous about this workout, no one shied away from it. Jeff Bobby showed up to do the workout and despite almost walking out the door, he did the wod and got 6 overhead squats! A huge personal record for Jeff as he had never even attempted a 95 pound overhead squat before.  Jen Link had never overhead squatted 65 pounds or done a chest to bar pull up however she got 20 total reps on Saturday….20 more than she expected she would. Jen said, “I got 20 reps total and this is not great but I will say I am proud as I did more than I thought I could and I tried my best at something I didn’t think I could do!”.

14.2 was a true test of everyone’s greatest fear- to try something new.  And despite that fear, our members embraced the point of the Open and met that fear head on.  We couldn’t be prouder of everyone and only look forward to how you all take on the next three workouts.
