Arizona Kids Triathlon

For the second year in a row, CrossFit Fury was well represented at the Arizona Kids Triathlon held at Kiwanis Park in Tempe this past Sunday.  With over 20 kids from CrossFit Fury ranging from 6 to 15 years old, it was an exciting day for everyone involved. Our juniors (6-10 years old) competed in a 100 meter swim, 3 mile bike and .5 mile run while our senior athletes (11-15 years old) doubled the distances with a 200 meter swim, 6 mile bike and 1 mile run.

Sisters Ella and Abby Gray, both CrossFit Kids members took on their first triathlon this past Sunday.

We had quite a few returning athletes including Caroline Moore, Emma Lynch, Mila Medrano, Peyton and Taylor Hewette, Sebastian Orozco, Nova and Brent Scott, Jesse Kriebel and Zolie Berencsi.  Nova Scott, 14, took first in her age group in the senior triathlon with a time of 33:44 and Jesse Kriebel took second among 15 year olds with atime of 37:12.  Zolie who competed in the junior division last year had to step up this year and tackle the longer distances.  “I was a little worried when I first found out I had to do the longer distances but I was also excited. I have done 5 triathlons over the last year since my first one here last April.  I was excited to try something harder” said Berencsi.

Zolie Berencsi competed for the second year in the AZ KIds Triathlon.

CrossFit Fury held a free  7-week training program leading up to the race to help kids prepare for the 3 part event. Brandi Gray was excited for her girls to get the opportunity to learn and practice before the event.  “Thank you Aimee and CrossFit Fury for introducing our girls to triathlon and for preparing them for their first race. They had a blast”.
