14.4 Recap: Chipping Away

Fury tackling 14.4

Fury tackling 14.4

So in the fourth of five open workouts we were finally faced with more then 1 or 2 exercises and boy was it a combo! In total we had 14 minutes to get through 60 calories on the Rower, 50 Toes to Bar, 40 Wall Ball shots, 30 Cleans and 20 Muscle ups. As always we saw amazing performances in the gym and we are holding high on the Regional Leaderboard! Currently on Sunday morning the Bomb Squad is in 3rd in the Region and we are missing some scores which should really solidify our hold!

These past few weeks have been tremendous for Fury making us all stronger individually and as a whole! It is one thing to do well on the WODs day in and day out at the gym but testing yourself in a judged environment is a whole different level. Seriously the way Josh puts these weekends together is the closest thing we will see to an event such a Regionals or the Games. You guys and gals are making us incredibly proud every dang week!

It is also super important to remember that this is just another training day. If we get held up on a event or two, not big deal, let us use that to keep motivated to continue crushing our weaknesses. Something like Toes to Bar for example, its a pretty straight forward movement but when we are faced with a large number of reps (like 50) it really tests our ability. Personally, I have struggled with T2B in the past and have been exposed pretty bad and it was quite the learning experience. These movements take months and years of practice in small sets to really master the rhythm. So when you show up early for class, practice these little things. A few extra reps here and there will pay off dividends in the long run.

Next week is the final Open WOD and it is Fury tradition to throw a little party afterwards. We are looking at hosting a pot luck style BBQ right after the WOD next Saturday. We will cover the meat and grill but as a gym lets bring in our favorite sides and we can all hang out together as a community to celebrate our hard work. This will be a great chance to bring in those family members or friends who are not yet convinced why we do this crazy thing called CrossFit. We will have a signup sheet in the gym this week so we can plan out what delicious foods we are bringing on Saturday.
