CrossFit Kids member, JP Roberts (and son of Teri and Ryann Roberts) competed in his first triathlon last year.
The 2013 Arizona Kids Triathlon course is meant for first time athletes. Ages 5-10 will swim 100 yards; bike 3 miles and run 0.5 miles and ages 11-15 will swim 200 yards; bike 6 miles and run 1 mile. The event will take place at Kiwanis Park with the swim at the Kiwanis pool and the bike and run course will be on the area roadways and paths with no vehicle traffic. Safety is the number one priority. You can register here for the race.
We hope by the end of the 5 weeks, every athlete will be prepared both physically and mentally to complete their first triathlon on April 28th in Tempe. Please note, however, this is not a learn how to swim or ride a bike program. All participants should be competent in swimming and riding. There will be a swim test during the first week and participants will be asked to swim 2 laps at the YMCA pool. If they can’t do this then we might suggest they take a few swim lessons before attempting their first triathlon.

JP Roberts takes on his swim portion of his first triathlon. Athletes will be allowed to stop and rest during the swim portion of the race.
For the training program, we will offer 3 (with the possibility of a 4th on Sunday if there is a demand) individual classes per week. Since the same information will be covered in each class each week, we ask that you register for a specific day of the week and attend the same day every week. Classes will begin March 11th and will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4pm. If we fill up all three classes, we will open a Sunday time slot.
CrossFit Fury is excited about the opportunity to partner with these two great organizations and we welcome anyone who wants to give their first marathon a try or child who wants to improve on their last one. Please call Aimee at 623-932-4338 to sign up for the training program. Check out the Kids Training Program Brochure.
