CrossFit and The Cancer Wellness Community

This past Friday, Peter and I had the pleasure of going to The Wellness Community center in dwntown Phoenix and taking a group of patients through a CrossFit workout! After working with these amazing ladies and gentlemen we decided to take this on as a weekly class. Every week we will be working with individuals who are at all stages of treatments and together we will be working to increase our health and fitness.

Shockingly it has only been in the past few years that doctors have been recommending exercse to their patients. For many, exercise is the last thing on their mind while being in chemo or just finishing treatment. However, exercise and eating right has been found to not only prevent cancer but also keep it from coming back. When the Wellness Community contacted us about taking over this class, we couldn’t have been more excited! Fury is always trying to expand our reach and help better lives so what better way than to help those who really need it.

The Wellness Community is a national non-profit organization that provides support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes utilizing the Patient Active Concept, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease. Most importantly, TWC provides a home-like setting for people fighting cancer to connect with and learn from each other. At The Wellness Community, all programs are free of charge.

We look forward to our weekly class at the center and hope to help countless more in the process!
