If you have any free time these next two weekends, we have some events in store you should check out! First off, this Saturday the 24th we will be hosting the final Open WOD for the 2012 CrossFit Games! This means after this weekend we will know who has made the cut to move on to the Regional Qualifiers in May, which will be held in Denver. We do not yet know what the workout will be, but regardless this will be a great event with attendance from affiliates all over the state.
Immediately following the workout on Saturday, we will all be uniting in support of Dominic Peranzi from Tucson. This young man has been diagnosed with brain cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Arizona Affiliates have been fundraising independently so that together we will Pull For Dominic and make a difference. Keeping things competitive and supportive all participating affiliates are also sending a team to participate in a Tug of War Tournament. This is going to be a great time for a great cause and it will all go down at Goodyear Community Park around 1pm on Saturday. We will BBQ, tug on some rope, maybe even play a little kick ball! All we ask is that you bring a paleo friendly side dish or dessert.
If that’s not enough, we have volunteered to help with a pre-existing fundraiser helping the families of the Buckeye PD Officers Roland Tirado and Christopher Paz who were involved in a shoot out in May of last year. We will be hosting a Remember The Fallen Fitness Competition at Verrado High School on Saturday, March 31st at 8am. This is going to take the place of all the gym activities that day so we really encourage everyone to participate. We will be putting on three fun team events, which can be co-ed or even parent/child. We really need your help spreading the word for this event because of the short notice. Registration for this event will be $25 per team and there will be a social afterwards hosted by Ground Control in Verrado!
We hope that you can attend and help us promote these events! Please invite your friends and family and together we will make our community stronger and healthier. PEACE
