Set an Example

Do your kids copy you?  Sometimes it seems like all of our worst habits, language and mannerisms show up in our kids.  Like it or not, they are watching you and learning from everything they see you do.  They see what you eat, how you spend your time and what you do for fun.  If you are reading this, that means they also see you working out, or at least leaving the house to go to the gym.  But what do they see you eat?  If you sit in front of the T.V. and eat chips, what do you think they are going to want to snack on?

Going paleo is a great way to get your health and fitness back on track, but it also an amazing way to set an example for our kids.  When they hear you talking about protein, vegetables and healthy fat, they will start to think of food in the same ways.  When our kids see us valuing fitness and healthy living, it will inevitably rub of on them.  It may take some work on your part to make sure they know what you are eating and why, but making them part of the process will help them learn how to do it themselves.  Check out this article for more information on why we have so many overweight children in the country.  I’ll give you a hint on the ending: it has a lot to do with the actions of the parents.
