The FNA competition started today! Hopefully everyone planning on competing started off on the right foot! Remember we ask that you log your workouts and meals on Beyond the Whiteboard to participate. I just spent some time tooling around on there, logging my meals and some old workouts and it is definitely pretty easy to navigate once you get the hang of it.

I’m going to attempt to give you the cliff notes version of all this nutrition talk that has been going around and then point you towards our Nutrition links to go more in depth.

Paleo vs. Zone, whats the difference?

Paleo is purely types of food, or quality. The Paleo diet refers to eating pre-agriculture type foods. Basically things you could either harvest or kill yourself. There are no stipulations on quantity.

The Zone on the other hand is a means of bookkeeping your food intake in terms of macronutirients (aka protein, carbs and fat) in “blocks”. Kinda a pain in the butt at first, but man o man after a month or two you can eyeball your portions with razor sharp precision!

Basically our goal is to eat more plants and less boxed and bagged goods. From here I would check out CrossFit Journal Issue 21: The Zone, and The Paleo Diet for more then enough information to make you never want to look at food again!
